Young 3Rs Investigator Award
Blandine Clément – ETH Zurich
Advancing Pain Research: Platforms for Investigating Human Sensory Neuron Electrophysiology
Our first Young 3Rs Investigator Award is presented to Blandine Clément for her work on developing platforms for investigating human sensory neuron electrophysiology to advance pain research. The Jury highlighted not only the scientific quality of this work, but also its successful dissemination through publications, scientific meetings, industrial collaborations and hands-on training, helping to promote wider uptake of the approach.

Amanzhol Kurmashev – ETH Zurich
Microfluidic Platform for Dynamic Culturing and High Resolution Imaging of Bacterial Infections of Human Tissue in Real Time
Our second Young 3Rs Investigator Award is presented to Amanzhol Kurmashev for his work on developing a microfluidic platform for dynamic culturing and high-resolution imaging of bacterial infections of human tissue in real time. The Jurors were particularly impressed by the broad replacement potential of this technology and its use of biologically relevant human tissues and media, eliminating animal-derived products while improving physiological relevance.

Miriam Zemanova — University of Fribourg
Translating 3Rs into Practice in Wildlife Research
The Swiss 3RCC 3Rs Award is presented to Miriam Zemanova of the University of Fribourg for her work translating the 3Rs into practice in wildlife research. The Jury described this work as a highly valuable open resource, which provides important guidance for researchers seeking to apply the 3Rs in wildlife research and conservation.
